I am multilingual and have been learning several coding languages as well, which is why the structure of language intrigues me.   great at Mario Kart (self-proclaimed, but I challenge you to prove me otherwise). "The map of what we call reality is an ever-shifting mosaic of ideas.” - Marcelo Gleiser
Thank you for scrolling down here. The person I am right now is a result of who I've been in the past.
Below are my hobbies and accomplishments—my personal ever-shifting mosaic of ideas—that have shaped me into who I am today.
Engineering Club (2017-2020)
Modeled, assembled, and operated a floating arm trebuchet that won 1st place at the Rowan University Pumpkin Chunkin Competition (2018).
Attended build days every week, where my teammates and I came to school on a Saturday to work on constructing our trebuchet for 6-8 hours.
One of the first Turkish students to establish a radio connection with the International Space Station. This was made possible thanks to ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station).
I was chosen by my peers as our class representative and got to speak with astronauts and scientists 250 miles above us!
Head Social Media Manager (2018-2021), where I led a team of 5 in recording footage, writing captions, managing post analytics, and promoting posts.
Certified to teach ages 3-70 from no belt up to 3rd Dan black belt.
I plan out drills and structure classes while also supporting and motivating neurodivergent children, such as those with autism and ADHD.
Taught over Zoom for about 2 years during lockdown period, which gave me experience with hosting Zoom sessions and managing participants and breakout rooms.
Broke school record for memorizing the most digits of pi (2015). 157 digits!
Fun fact: Although I am fluent in English, I recited these digits in Turkish. If you asked me to recite 157 digits to
you right now (as my friends have done in the past), I would either do so in Turkish or write the digits down for you.
Worked at main lobby, laboratory, pharmacy, nursing unit.
Worked with people of all ages, transported bodily fluids, sorted medicine, knit blankets.
Piano (2008-2016)
Claimed I was going to be the next Mozart and composed a few pieces when I was 6. Perhaps very irrelevant/random information but I thought it would be funny to mention.
Playing the piano was a big part of my life, but I stopped after moving to the US because I no longer had access to a piano :(
Chess (2008-2012)
Attended several chess tournaments (and even won a few here and there).
Named top player of the women's division. (I don't know why a chess tournament had gendered divisions.)
Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) (2013-2016)
Went to several JMUN conferences, most of which were in Turkey but one of them was in Paris.
